Producing Artist Responsibilities
The
Producing Artist's role in the three-week Documenting Engagement Institute is
to participate in discussions, to develop skills in digital documentary video
production and to produce a short video. The video will be about their work as
an artist engaging with members of a community. The videos may address: the creation
of a project; the pursuit and development of a community based arts practice;
an artist's work as part of a particular community engaged artistic tradition;
or, some other aspect of the artist's work with communities.
Before the 3 week institute:
- Create, collect and assemble documentary materials of your practice for potential inclusion in your video;
- Read and review reference materials package supplied in advance of the Institute;
- Provide information on your practice and a CV for inclusion on the website and for circulation to other participants.
During the Institute:
- Devote January 11 to 31 entirely to the Institute;
- Participate in discussions with other participants and senior artist/academics;
- Participate in one or more panels, philosopher cafes, and other format interactions with the public;
- Create (with the assistance of Pacific Cinémathèque technical support) a short documentary video about your practice in community based arts;
- Provide a written statement to accompany the video as well as summary artist background information for publication.
Following the Institute:
- Enter into a shared copyright agreement with Pacific Cinémathèque for the video that is producedshared copyright is intended to allow each partner to use the video without the consent of the other party;
- Agree that information about the video (including selections from the video) can be published on the Institute website.
